1 cup milk or milk alternative

1/2 cup hot water

2 tbsp sugar or sugar alternative

1 cup teff flour

Pinch of Himalayan salt


Fresh fruit (Orange slices, kiwi, Sharon fruit)

80% dark chocolate or cacao nibs


  1. In a small saucepan on medium heat, add the milk, water and sugar then bring to a simmer.
  2. Sprinkle in the teff flour, whisk for 3 minutes while bubbling. Taste for additional salt or sweetener.
  3. Add more liquid for a fluid consistency or continue cooking for a stiffer porridge.
  4. Top with fresh fruit and toppings of choice.


Tips: Flavour your porridge with coffee –  Add 2 tbsp ground coffee or 2 tsp instant coffee.

Add the ground coffee or instant coffee to the milk. Allow infuse for 2 minutes, while stirring.

If using ground coffee, pour the liquid through a sieve to remove granules, then return back to the saucepan.
